"We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And He did rescue us from mortal danger, and He will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in Him, and He will continue to rescue us." 2 Corinthians 1:8-10
These verses have been a huge encouragement to my heart recently. God has shown them to me on a couple of different occasions and I know that it is not by accident. Lately, I have been in such a place of despair that I honestly wondered if I would live through it. I know that may sound over-dramatic, but there truly have been times that I thought I would not endure. I cannot explain the pain that my heart feels with this unfulfilled desire to have a child. As Proverbs says, it truly does make the heart sick.
There is an ache in my heart when I see everyone around me living the life that I am longing for. I see people get pregnant, have their babies, their babies grow up and they have more babies...all while we sit here waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I don't understand God's ways, but I know that He understands my heart and does have something beyond what I could ever imagine in store. He is showing me that I MUST learn to rely on Him for my everything. He has given me more than I can bear, because He wants me to give it to Him to bear. I am praying every day that He will be my Rescuer, my Deliverer and give me the power to walk by His Spirit.
Surrender is much easier said than done, but I'm praying for Him to continue to work it in me. I am so thankful for all of your prayers for us. I don't think I can ever express my thanks enough. Please don't stop!!
I know that some of you are already planning your Christmas cards, so it's that time again! Last year's Christmas Card Carousel was so much fun, I couldn't wait to host it again!
Please mark your calendars and come back here on Wednesday, December 16th to share your Christmas card with us. I cannot wait to see them!
Here's the button code if you would like to grab it and post it on your blog to spread the word...
Our office was closed this Thursday and Friday because our boss went out of town, and I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I was for those days off! I enjoyed my Thursday by sleeping in and doing some shopping (GREAT sales at the L0ft!) and Friday we took the little boo to the pumpkin patch!
E playing around before we took a wagon ride out to the patch.
How tall is E this fall??? She is growing so much!
And, I love having the chance to meet them in person! I heard from my sweet friend Mandi a couple of weeks back that she would be coming through my city on their way to the North Carolina mountains for a vacation. I was so excited that I was finally going to get to meet her face to face and squeeze her neck!
Mandi has been one of those blog friends that you just know you would be great friends with if you lived down the street from one another. Oh, how I wish we could meet for coffee once a week and chat our little heads off! We did our best in the short time we had. Her husband, Howie, was such a sweetheart and was so patient with us. After dinner, he offered to go to a local mall and let Dillan play so we could get coffee and talk some more. Isn't that so sweet?! And, Jenna, you are right....Dillan IS more precious in person if it's even possible!
It was such an encouraging time for me to be able to share my "true colors" with her and know that she understands what I'm feeling because she's been there too. She can relate to where I am now, but can also testify to what it's like on the other side and encourage me to not lose hope. If you've ever heard Beth Moore's teaching on gentleness from the Fruit of the Spirit Bible study then this will make sense to you ,and if not, sorry! Where my heart is wounded right now in our struggle to become parents, Mandi's bears the scars. She knows what this pain is like, but God has worked healing in her life and He used her to minister to me in such a special way. There is such power in the word of our testimony!
Mandi, I'm so thankful that the Lord brought us into each others lives and I'm already looking forward to the next time we can meet!
Yesterday, we celebrated her special day with a party at Chuck E Cheese with some of her friends and she had a ball. She had never been before and was beyond excited!
She is getting so big, I just can't hardly stand it!!
We love you, little boo, and are so thankful that the Lord blessed us with you. We pray that you will love Jesus with your whole heart and give your life to serve Him always!
Happy Birthday little monkey, we love you so much!!
We recently started working with our church's youth ministry and we've come across lots of new music in styles that we don't typically listen to, but it's been neat to find out how teens today are worshiping God in their own way.
This is a song that I am really loving right now. I know that it may not be "your style" but please listen, or at least just read the lyrics. There is such truth in these words. My heart has been burdened since returning from Brazil, and I pray that God would give me the courage to boldly proclaim His name no matter where I am or who He puts in my path.
[Verse 1] Carlos was born in killacali was walking down an alley and caught a bullet in his head that left him bleeding badly. He lost everything at that moment except his life, he lost his hearing lost his movement and even lost his sight. He laid there in a coma but man nobody cared the Gospel preached in his neighborhood? Nobody dared. But los got up out the coma and was able to hear a missionary shared the gospel to his open ears. He got saved got trained got discipled back to hood you could find em preaching the Bible. He led a homie to Christ from his same hood part of Church plant come on now ain't His name good? This is blessing I'm stressing but this is not the norm we need leaders and believers to help carry it on. But who would minister in a sinister part of town? I pray if Jesus is calling you that you would be found.
Go, go, go (run with those beautiful feet) Go, go, go You hold the truth that saves so run and shout it to the world They can't believe in something they ain't never heard Go, go, go and run with those beautiful feet
[Verse 2] Eric used to go to Bible study as a kid he got older and started doing what the hood did. A rival gang caught him slippin' tried to take his life but the jammed up so them beat him nice. He woke up in the hospital singing Bible songs praise God he had a place to learn the Bible from. But then he gets saved and wanna preach Christ they make him change his whole culture and way of life. He gotta get him a bachelors wear a suit and tie go to seminary by then all of his boys will die. Jesus came to invade culture outta Nazareth and used a couple fisherman who people saw as hazardous. The feet are beautiful if only they'd go if ain't nobody in the hood preaching how will they know? Eric is better used taught trues in his context somebody please plant a church in his projects.
Go, go, go (run with those beautiful feet) Go, go, go You hold the truth that saves so run and shout it to the world They can't believe in something they ain't never heard Go, go, go and run with those beautiful feet
[Verse 3] In Luke 4:16 on down to 21 Jesus says He's Messiah says He's the chosen one. But more than that He quotes Isaiah that shows our Savior targets oppressed captive blind and the broken I'm saying. Had a heart for the poor had a heart for the low and 1st John 2:6 is way we should go. In Deuteronomy even tho they under the law the tithes every third year the poor got em all. I ain't sayin' you wrong if you live in burbs I'm sayin' turn your attention to the hood cause we hurting. Man if you ain't burdened please pick up your word and tho this world is going down while we here we can serve Him. We bring this to the streets because we knew the streets I pray that more would be burdened to have beautiful feet. You never knew the streets but truth is what you preach I pray to God you'd be burdened to have beautiful feet.
Go, go, go (run with those beautiful feet) Go, go, go You hold the truth that saves so run and shout it to the world They can't believe in something they ain't never heard Go, go, go and run with those beautiful feet
I am a twenty-something southern woman who loves the Lord and my wonderful husband of 8 years. We have two dogs that we love more than we probably should! Calie is a Miniature Pinscher and Mason is a Boxer. We long to be parents, and are waiting on God's perfect timing for the blessing of a child. God has blessed us with a wonderful family and group of friends that we love to hang out with. I long to know my Savior more intimately and find all that I need in Him alone.
